FLIR Systems announced in October 2007 that it would acquire shares of Extech Instruments Corp. for $40 million in cash, a move FLIR said would expand distribution channels for its thermal imaging products and provide access to low-cost manufacturing in Asia. The transaction is subject to standard closing conditions and is expected to close in the fourth quarter.
